Birthstone of February! Trapiche amethyst, a rare variety of quartz, named trapiche after the wheel used in sugar cane mill wheel. This amethyst has symmetrical crystals with a radiating star-like pattern of inclusions between areas of growth, resembles the six-spiked cogwheel! These patterns emerge from the interaction of heated waters with carbonaceous host rocks, leading to a unique zoning and inclusion process
