Fossil Gem (Dino) Bone Sterling Silver Pendant with Inlay Bale | Ed Lohman Collection
This piece is a snapshot of ancient life turned to stone. This fossilized dinosaur bone, often called “gembone” formed when prehistoric bone was buried and slowly replaced by minerals over millions of years. The original cellular structure is preserved, creating that signature cracked, webbed pattern, each line tracing where living tissue once existed.
Ben Davis shaped and polished this cabochon to highlight the natural mosaic of the bone’s internal structure, letting the subtle earth tones and intricate pattern speak for themselves. The custom sterling silver setting and detailed inlay bale were handcrafted by Ed Lohman, adding a bold, artisan-built frame that complements the ancient story held inside the stone.
Sourced from the American West, this is a true one-of-a-kind piece, no two fossil bones ever mineralize the same way.
