Hypersthene Pendant – Northern North American Stone | Ben & Bryant Collection
Check out that shimmer moving across the surface. Hypersthene - the stone with the hidden shimmer! Ben cut this cabochon to highlight the stone’s natural silky reflections, where subtle flashes of bronze and silver glide across the deep charcoal surface.
The name hypersthene comes from the Greek words meaning “over strength,” a nod to the mineral’s durability and solid crystal structure. Hypersthene is a magnesium-iron silicate mineral commonly found in igneous rocks formed deep within the Earth. It is most often found in the northern regions of the United States and Canada, where ancient volcanic activity allowed these crystals to form within slowly cooling magma.
The stone is set in solid .925 sterling silver, hand-crafted in Texas by geologist and lapidary artist Ben Davis with master silversmith Randy Bryant. The clean silver frame allows the subtle metallic sheen of the hypersthene to take center stage while providing a durable and timeless setting.
Each piece in the Ben & Bryant Collection celebrates geology, craftsmanship, and the beauty of natural stone.
