Amethyst with Rutilated Quartz and Triple A Moonstone
This pendant looks almost like lightning captured inside purple glass. Ben created this dramatic doublet by pairing lab-grown amethyst with rutilated quartz, allowing the golden rutile needles to flash across the surface like tiny bolts of light suspended within the stone.
Rutile is a titanium oxide mineral that naturally forms long, slender crystal needles inside quartz as the host crystal grows. These metallic inclusions create the striking golden strands that make rutilated quartz so sought after by collectors. In this piece, the rutile appears to burst through the deep violet amethyst background, creating a layered effect that gives the stone incredible depth and movement.
The pendant is set in solid .925 sterling silver, hand-crafted in Texas by geologist and lapidary artist Ben Davis with master silversmith Randy Bryant. Randy shaped the surrounding silver with an organic textured edge that echoes natural rock formations, while a luminous AAA-grade moonstone drop hangs below, adding a soft glow and elegant movement to the design.
Each piece in the Ben & Bryant Collection celebrates geology, craftsmanship, and the beauty of natural stone.
