Scolecite “Angel Wings” Pendant – Sterling Silver

$226.00

Scolecite has a way of capturing quiet beauty. The pale peach-pink and ivory crystal sprays in this stone radiate outward like delicate wings or frozen starlight, a natural pattern that has earned this mineral the affectionate nickname “Angel Wings" or "Butterfly Wings." The fibrous structure formed as tiny needle-like crystals grew outward in perfect symmetry, creating a luminous texture that seems almost soft when polished. It’s a mineral that feels light and peaceful while still carrying the strength of the volcanic forces that formed it.

This piece began as a rough specimen of scolecite from the Deccan Traps of India, one of the largest volcanic provinces on Earth. Over 60 million years ago, massive lava flows cooled and hardened into basalt. As the rock solidified, gas pockets inside the lava filled with mineral-rich fluids that slowly crystallized into delicate zeolite minerals. Within these cavities, scolecite grew into radiating sprays of crystals, a geological moment of stillness preserved in stone.

The stonework on this one was from a silversmith we found in Colorado

Because of its delicate, uplifting appearance, scolecite is sometimes given as a meaningful gift for someone facing illness or hardship — a symbol of quiet strength and calm resilience.
