Detroit-Era Fordite Sterling Silver Adjustable Bracelet (6")
This bracelet features a large square Detroit-era Fordite cabochon, set in solid 925 sterling silver with an adjustable 6" fit. The colors, layered blue, green, white, red, black, and deep burgundy, were built one spray at a time on the floors of historic Detroit auto plants, where decades of enamel paint cured and hardened through heat and repetition before being reclaimed and cut by hand.
Often called “Motor City agate,” Fordite isn’t a stone in the traditional sense; it’s a time capsule. Each layer represents a different production run, a different year, a different moment in American industrial history. No two pieces are ever alike, and true Detroit-era material is now finite; once the old paint booths were dismantled, the supply stopped.
