Turquoise doesn’t always play by the rules.

This collection features Red Skin turquoise from China, a variety known for its vivid blue color wrapped in warm rust-colored host rock. The striking contrast occurs naturally when turquoise forms in copper-rich environments alongside iron-stained rock, leaving behind that distinctive red “skin.”

Translation: the stone kept a little bit of the mountain.

Every stone in this collection was hand-cut into cabochons by Ben Davis, who spent plenty of time at the cabbing machine figuring out what each piece of rough wanted to become. Some stones revealed bright blue windows, others leaned earthy and wild, and a few refused to follow any turquoise expectations at all.

That’s exactly why they are some of my "not expected" favorite turquoise.

Each piece is one-of-a-kind natural turquoise, set in sterling silver and shaped to highlight the unique color, matrix, and character of the stone.
