Josephine Crown Quartz Sterling Silver Pendant | Ben & Bryant Collection

$249.00

Josephine Crown is one of the most striking metallic lapidary materials found in the American West. This unique stone features elegant streamers of metallic color, most notably gold tones, created by a natural mix of pyrite, chalcopyrite, and other sulfide minerals embedded within white and black quartz. The result is a dramatic natural contrast, with bright metallic minerals suspended within the quartz, giving the stone a rich, textured appearance.

Ben Davis carefully cut this cabochon to highlight the flowing metallic patterns within the stone, allowing the natural mineral inclusions to create the feeling of a miniature landscape inside the quartz. Randy Bryant then crafted the custom .925 sterling silver setting, framing the stone with a clean outer "crown" edge.

This material comes from southern Oregon, where it is found in the same region as historic gold and silver mines. Because the stone forms alongside these mineral deposits, it is not unheard of to find trace amounts of gold within the material itself.
