Dry Head Agate Pendant from Montana - medium oval

$119.00 $138.00

Dryhead Agate is unique in color and due to the matrix being more of a limestone than volcanic, as with many other types of agates. The material was originally found in Southern Montana between the Big Horn and Pryor Ranges, just west of the river. Initially, mined in the 1950’s, access opened up and public mining was done in the early 1980’s, private commercial mining continued into the 1990’s, when cost and access became prohibitive.
Known for it’s bold colors of salmon, reds, yellows, and of course oranges; this material is instantly recognizable and collectible since collecting has stopped for the last 30 years.
